I read on nypost.com that young teens at a pricey Upper West Side private school were asked to
write first-person suicide notesa macabre assignment that some of
their parents have blasted as “inappropriate.”
The English-class homework at York Prep required students as young as
14 to write goodbye missives from the perspective of a character who
offs herself in “The Secret Life of Bees,” a best-selling book and film.
The task included justifying why they had committed suicide, a grim process that rattled a few nerves.
“We were pretty stunned at the scope of the assignment,” said a father of a ninth-grade student at the school.
"We thought this was such an outrageous assignment for a 14-year-old
to get,” he added. “We pay a lot of money to send our kids to the
school.”
DS take on this issue
This is a demonic ploy that teaches young vulnerable kids to be suicidal. No matter the creative motive behind it. This kind of ideologies taught in schools are not only ungodly but very dangerous.
Its like telling a child to do a homework about How to rob a bank or How to become a prostitute. This things are totally immoral and are social vices affecting our societies today. There are so many things a child should learn in school, but this is certainly not one of them.
W e have recorded a series of homicide in schools at all levels, For example, Dec, 2012 Sandy Hooke shootings,
I also find it sad when i read on some Christian websites that suicide is not a sin and if a Christian commits suicide, he or she will go to heaven because they are Christians. If we are indeed Christians, we are to be Christ-like, Jesus was killed so that we will be saved, he didn't kill himself.
On the other hand, Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus' disciples committed suicide. He believed he couldn't be forgiven after betraying Jesus. So, he took his life.
When people commit suicide, they are indirectly telling God they cannot be forgiven, or he cannot help them with the situation they are facing. Most importantly, they are telling God, that they can only be saved from life's troubles by taking their lives rather than leaning on Him who died for them.
Some even argue that suicide is not a sin and a person has the right to his life. God is the Creator of life (Genesis 1:20-28), while Satan holds the power of death (Hebrews 2:14)Jesus holds the keys of hell & death.
